keep the change | $20 budget - April

$20 month shopping challenge

April purchases from Kohl's.

if you can't see the video CLICK HERE.

yes. the flip-flops are a need. my one pair of black ones are about five years old from New York & Co.... subject to break at any given moment. and i'm sure there are parasites growing in the leather. i'm not throwing them away though.

all of my bras are black with the exception of one leopard print and another light blue one i bought in Las Vegas as a souvenir. i'm not sure why, but it made sense at the time.

if you only had $20 to spend on clothes, shoes, and accessories next month - what would you buy?!

  1. Those sandals are cute! And I am not mad at the bra! I love finding good bras on sale!

I have a whole shopping list! I need a pair of black shorts, gold sandals, and one of those flowy sleeveless blouses. Can't get all of that for $20 bucks though!

  2. Miss Donna, I was at Kohl's today (love that store!) and they have a new rewards program! It's free, no credit card required, and they give you a card to track your purchases. You get 1 point for every dollar you spend, $5 reward for every 100 points, you earn 100 points for signing up, and then you also get $15 off your next purchase. I had some Kohl's cash that was expired, and the saleslady said they will still accept it, too. With all of that, you can save up for your purse and then go find one.

Also, if you only spend $15 one month, do you give yourself the difference the next month?

  5. Cute sandals flip flops are my thing that's all I wear during the summer. See I have big tatas so basic bras won't do for me I gotta go to a specialized store and one bra costs 60 bucks...I only own about 3 pairs of good ones cause I can't afford it I have some cheap ones for regular everyday life.

  6. I would try to find something by one of my favorite designers (Nanette Lepore or Betsey Johnson) at JCPenney. They carry both of those designers, and I seem to always be able to find something too cute for less than $20. And, I'd wait til they sent me one of those $10 off $25 coupons in the mail or email so my budget would go even further.

  7. Proud of you for including no Ross trips, I'll make up for it for you. Do you like TJ Maxx or Marshalls? They are ok, not as reasonable as Ross but maybe you can check them out.

  8. I like the sandals a LOT! I am so into the cushion thingie on there! I think Ihave extra sensitive feet or something because LAWD some of my shoes puts a hurtin on me! I wish I had a Ross near me, I always hear such good things about that store---I need to go to one when I go down south :) You are doing fantastic with your challenge, you have tons more willpower than me!

    1. outburst!! girl, i already know. that's why i check for any kind of added comfort feature i can get. yes...by all means - find a Ross. all you need is about $50 and you can do some serious damage.

and thanks for the encouraging words. i need them at a time like this.

  9. Girl, I love your videos because you have the best expressions! Those flip-flops are so cute and bras are a necessity! I agree that it might be hard to find things that are cute and in season, however, I think you do have some alternatives. For example, if you know that you won't be able to find current season items, how about making a plan to purchase past season items on clearance? Maybe last season's skinnies will work again in the fall and you can pick them up for a steal now that our temperatures are back in the 80's. In August, swimwear and shorts will be on clearance and again those are practically year round items here in Texas. Lastly, would you consider buying at the Goodwill or other thrift shops? I've found some items for ridiculous prices (JCrew pants for 4.99, bangles for .50, etc.)

    1. thank you, Ana! the issue is now that i'm seriously thinking about everything i'm buying, i realize i have quite a bit of stuff that i haven't even worn yet so i don't want to add more skinnies to the new-with-tags skinnies collection. same goes for tops, accessories, and dresses. remember...i can't thrift as part of the challenge. i did that to prevent me from going buckwild in a thrift store with $20. thank you for the great advice!

  10. WOW. That is really a challenge!! have you been to Goodwill yet? Find one in a swanky area and LIVE IT UP! The one nearest to me has AWESOME stuff, 4-5 dollars a pop. If you knew how to mix it up, you could get what, like 3-4 outfits out of four pieces, for 20 or less. Nice incentive to control spending!
